SALLIE GREENWOOD
MOUNT OLIVE -- The funeral for Sallie Alphin Greenwood, 80, will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Tyndall Funeral Home. Dr. Dennis Draper will officiate. Burial will be in the Alphin Family Cemetery.
Mrs. Greenwood was a resident of Suwanee, Ga. She died Sunday afternoon at Peatree Christian Hospice in Duluth.
A native of the Summerlin's Crossroads community near Mount Olive, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Sallie Whitfield Alphin. Prior to retirement, she operated an employment agency.
She is survived by a daughter, Sallie Greenwood Ingram of Suwanee, Ga.; a son, Bartley Jay Greenwood III of Lexington, Ky.; a sister, Linda Alphin Smith of Raleigh; four brothers, Reevis Alphin of Sanford, Oliver Wendell Alphin of Topsail Beach, Fred Alphin Jr. of Raleigh and Jack Alphin of Raleigh; and two grandchildren, Rena McMullan and Nichole McMullan, both of Suwanee, Ga.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her stepmother, Clara Dail Alphin; her sisters, Norma Rae Alphin Summerlin, Viola Alphin Winstead, Peggy Alphin; and a brother, Don Alphin.
The family receive friends Tuesday from 7 until 8 p.m. at Tyndall Funeral Home. At other times, friends and relatives may call at the home of Norma Carole and Ray McDonald, 615 W. Main St., Mount Olive.
